Unsaid

Leave it unsaid,

Let it swell like a tumour in the head,

Bite your tongue 'til it draws blood,

and hold your breath 'til you turn blue,

Because it is the right thing to do,

How you were hurt,

How you were wronged,

Let it echo like the lines of a repetitive song,

But if I stay silent aren't I complicit in the lie?

No. Write it down she said,

Set it on fire instead,

Turn the other cheek,

Thats what Jesus would say,

Thats what Buddha would do,

Still, next time I think I'll speak the truth.
